YouTube users can now track the number and location of their viewers, as the site is added to the list of services covered by Google Analytics.

Using the new "YouTube Insights" feature, users can see a trend graph for video views and also see in which country those viewers are located, via a simplified version of Google's Analytics package.

Users can also glean information on what time of day most views are received, or what day of the week.

To access viewer statistics go to your YouTube account page, click on Videos, Favourites, Playlists and then hit the About This Video button next to the appropriate clip.

The popularity of online video is surging, with over half of UK adults now regularly viewing video content online according to a recent survey.
