Yet another Eee rival arrives
11:04AM, Tuesday 25th March 2008
Yet another manufacturer has unveiled an Eee PC rival, further crowding the emerging Linux-powered micro-notebook market.
EliteGroup Computer Systems (ECS) has released details of the G10IL notebook on its website, although would not comment on a release date when contacted.
The laptop will be available in either 8.9in or 10.2in screen versions, both with a glossy coating, and use Intel's mobile Atom processors.
Expansion and connectivity are well catered for, with three USB ports, the same as the Eee PC, and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HSPA. Only one DIMM slot is provided for RAM, but can support up to 2GB of memory.
ECS will ship the device with either Windows XP or Linux installed.
Since Asus launched the Eee PC, several companies have release competitors, including MSI's Wind and Intel's Classmate.
