In our online banking feature in this month's PC Pro we described "Money as a little unloved at Microsoft" after the company failed to issue a new UK version in three years, despite a US release just last year.
However, an email from PC Pro reader Andrew suggests we underestimated just how unloved Money really is.
Andrew was trying to buy Money 2005 but after struggling to find it on Microsoft's website, he emailed the company for further information and after a three week wait claims he received the following response.
"Money 2005 is the latest version in the UK and this product is still available for purchase. Additionally, Money 2005 is an obsolete product. Obsolete products are not eligible for assisted [support] from us."
We've contacted Microsoft for confirmation that it's no longer supporting Money 2005, but have yet to hear back.
When we asked Microsoft to comment on Money's lack of updates for our feature, a spokesperson told us the 2005 edition still offers all the tools and services customers in the UK need.
Apparently, though, the one thing we don't need is support.
