Sky not the limit for Google 10:47AM, Friday 14th March 2008
Google has taken its popular Sky application from Google Earth and made it available through the browser.

Google Sky was formerly available solely as part of the downloadable Google Earth pack, but is now accessible without needing to download anything at all.

Google Sky lets you tour the galaxy just as you tour Google Earth, panning and zooming on interesting constellations and planets. The service also contains a wealth of information on what you're looking at, as well as images from the Hubble telescope and links to other astronomy sites on the web.

The controls are the same as those on Google Earth, although the movement within the browser does appear a little jerky at the moment.

We asked Google if there is any chance of Google Earth following Sky onto the browser, but the company is remaining tight lipped.
