The week in your words: EU fines, leaks and Wiki bans
Posted on 29 Feb 2008 at 17:26
We love a story with a happy ending, but the embattled operating system did find support (unfortunately not of the driver variety) from JStairmand who happens to think Vista is lovely. "I'm very pleased with Vista, easy to use, lot's of great features and on my own PC very stable."
That sound you can hear is Microsoft's marketing department ringing JStairmand's phone off its hook.
Department of Health banned from Wikipedia
Apparently Department of Health staff like a tinker on Wikipedia during their dinner hour, swiftly earning the wrath of Wiki which banned it after one edit too many. But what was being edited, and why? That was the question on the lips of our readers.
PalMal had an idea. "It's probably just one person with too much time on their hands... a bit like some of the people on this forum!"
Amnesia10 was feeling a tad more cynical. "Probably trying to alter articles that made the department look bad."
Not so, argues Woofer37, our man on the inside. "NHS addresses have also been banned. We are simply staff updating the rather poor quality sections on health technology. I've done some work on ICU therapies and resuscitation in a lot of detail. The generic ban is just because the IP address seemed to contain a lot of edits - but there are hundreds of editors contributing to a very detailed field."
And with that we're off to take our tablets. See you all next week.
