Asus set to unveil XP-ready Eee PC? 2:12PM, Friday 29th February 2008
Asus has confirmed that Microsoft will be appearing at its CeBIT press conference next week, suggesting that the XP-loaded Eee PC is about to make an appearance on European shores.

Given that XP has more demanding system requirements than its current Linux operating system, speculation is rife that Asus will take the opportunity to showcase the 8GB solid-state disk model, with 1GB of DDR2 memory

The current Eee PC boasts only a 4GB hard disk and 512MB of memory. Click here to read PC Pro's review of the first Eee PC.

T-Mobile is also slated to be attending the press conference, which could mean that Asus is ready to unveil integrated WiMAX, which was announced at CES back in January but failed to make an appearance. The company may also show off its new 8in and 9in screen models.

Reports also suggest the company is gearing up to showcase its graphics cards based on the 9800 GX2 reference board, Nvidia's reply to ATi's 3870 X2.
