Facebook unveils new look 11:01AM, Wednesday 27th February 2008
Facebook has given its users a sneak preview of this spring's planned redesign.

The new look will combat the problem of Facebook profiles endlessly scrolling off the bottom of the screen by splitting them into three separate tabs: Wall, About and Photos.

Facebook admits profiles have become unwieldy. "The big project at Facebook these days is a redesign of Profiles," Facebook's Carolyn Abram states

on the site's blog. "As more and more information is available on Facebook - more photo albums, more applications, and more history - we've realised that profiles have become cluttered and harder to navigate as a result.

"We're trying to make profiles more simple and relevant, while still giving you control over your profile and how you express yourself."

The social networking site has rather self-indulgently created a fan site for the news designs and promises to provide weekly updates on the redesign for those who sign-up as fans.
