General Electric (GE) has launched a new range of cameras with a blink detection feature, as it attempts to break into the European market.

The new models are the first to include the blink detection feature, which claims to put an end to embarrassing eyes-closed snapshots.

At the entry level, the A735 will feature a seven megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom, while at the other end of the scale the E1050 boasts a 10 megapixel sensor and 5x optical zoom.

The E1050 will also be available with a GPS receiver to enable geo-tagging of images.

"Our aim is for GE to be one of the top digital camera brands within five years," says European director, Gary Banks.

All models in the range also share a common set of features including image stabilisation, panoramic photo stitching, as well as face and smile detection.

All models share a common user interface and button set, and ship with the same set of instructions to ensure ease of use. GE also claim that any problem with its cameras will be rectified within 24 hours.
