MySpace fixes security hole 10:15AM, Monday 21st January 2008
MySpace has fixed a security vulnerability that allowed hidden pictures of users, including children, to be accessed simply by altering the URL of a profile.

The flaw, which was first reported in October last year, gave hackers access to private pictures and profiles on MySpace.

MySpace users have the option to hide their profiles and pictures from the public, while children under 16 have profiles set as private by default.

Several websites emerged to streamline the process of circumventing the site's security, bringing in advertising revenue for the owners.

After several months, the threat has now been fixed by MySpace, only days after it received extensive media coverage.
