SanDisk unveils flash drive with online backup
Posted on 3 Jan 2008 at 07:49
SanDisk has introduced a new flash drive that automatically backs up data to the internet.
When users store documents, photos and music onto SanDisk's new Cruzer Titanium Plus USB flash drive, it backs up that digital information to a web service offered by a start-up company called BeInSync, which stores data using Amazon's S3 storage service.
The new flash drive, which will be officially unveiled at CES next week, goes on sale in the US in March for $59.99 and will come with 4GB of storage and provide six months of free online backup.
After that period, a user pays $29.99 a year to continue the online storage service.
The company says that after an initial online registration, any information contained on the drive will sync automatically with their online account, and be covered by two years of BoomerangIt lost and found service for recovering lost files.
There's no word yet on when the device will be hitting the UK.
