According to various sources, Intel currently sees no advantage in releasing its new 45nm processors while AMD is still struggling to launch Phenom. Apparently the chip giant believes that in the current environment any new product release would only harm sales of its own 65nm range.
It is therefore revising its product strategy, and delaying the launch of the Core 2 Quad Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550 from January to February or March.
The decision would cap a troubled year for AMD, which has struggled with technical glitches in its quad-core Opterons, causing serious delays in shipping which have reportedly knocked 40% off its share value.
At the time of publication we were still waiting for confirmation from Intel.
