Revealed: Britain's best broadband ISP 2007 7:34AM, Wednesday 5th December 2007
It's beginning to look as if every other ISP might as well pack up and go home, after Zen took PC Pro's Best Broadband ISP award for the fourth year running.

Zen may not be the cheapest provider in our survey, but with a staggering 95% of its customers willing to recommend it to a friend, it's certainly the best.

But there's definitely competition, not least from Madasafish, which has built on its reputation for reliability to take the second place spot for the second year running - no mean feat considering the huge amount of choice out there.

However, the sweet dream

of free broadband already appears to have soured for customers, with this year's survey proving you get what you pay for when it comes to ISPs.

Orange, TalkTalk and Sky, all of which offer broadband bundled with other services, struggled to mount any serious challenge in our survey, with only Sky limping into the top ten due to its high rating for "value for money".

Orange didn't even have that to cling on to, with only 49% of those polled saying they would recommend it to a friend, a damning statistic when compared to the 69% industry average.

It wasn't the only ISP which struggled in our survey. Telewest's merger with NTL and rebranding as Virgin Media seems to have done it no favours at all, with just 54% of its customers satisfied with the service, though an industry average of 60% suggests it's not the only ISP that needs to try harder over the coming year.
