Police in Manchester now have another method of gathering evidence on criminals, after opening a website which allows the public to upload videos of crimes.

The website allows people to submit videos and photos, along with a text description of what is shown, and any other information they may consider of value.

Users can choose whether or not to leave personal details, allowing for anonymous tips.

Because most people now have a digital camera and video recorder on their mobile phone, the police are hoping the service could turn into a very useful tool for prosecuting criminals.
