Apple will be joined by the four major record companies and each will be asked separately to explain why the price of music downloads from the store varies from country-to-country.
The evidence gathered at the closed hearings will be sent to EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes.
The Commission filed antitrust charges in in April, following a complaint by the UK's Office of Fair Trading. UK iTunes customers pay 79p to buy a song from iTunes, equivalent to around €1.16, 17 cents more than Apple charges in Europe.
Apple submitted its response to the charges in June, but details have not been made public.
Commission spokesman Jonathan Todd said in April that it does not believe Apple is to blame, since the pricing structure is "imposed" by the record companies.
