AMD shuns new Evesham 4:56PM, Wednesday 15th August 2007
AMD has told PC Pro that it will no longer be dealing with Evesham Technology.

The British PC maker was bought out of administration a fortnight ago, thanks to funding from a company run by Tahir Mohsan, the founder of Time Computers. It's now trading as Geemore Technology, but continuing to use the old Evesham name, premises and website.

in a statement sent to PC Pro earlier today, the chip maker revealed: "AMD can confirm that it is no longer working with Evesham. It will not disclose information regarding individual business engagements with its partners. AMD remains committed to supporting the UK channel."

The split means that Evesham will likely no longer have access to early samples of processors, roadmaps, nor benefit from any marketing deals with AMD. It's a blow for Evesham, whose desktop PC line-up is largely comprised of AMD processors.

Evesham's managing director, Richard Austin, brushed off the news. "All AMD are saying is they are not going to be working with us direct - we'll still buy AMD processors through distribution. It's not going to cause any supply issues to our customers."

Austin claimed it was the first he'd heard of AMD's decision. "I guess we have to rebuild our credibility," he added.
