Microsoft connects Macs to Vista 11:00AM, Wednesday 1st August 2007
Microsoft has released a new beta of the Remote Desktop Connection software that lets Mac users remotely connect to PCs running Windows Vista.

The new beta is Universal - compatible with both PowerPC and Intel Macs - and incorporates Remote Desktop Protocol 6.0 to provide better compatibility with Windows Vista, improved security features and other improvements.

These include support for multiple sessions so that you can connect to multiple Windows computers at the same time; dynamic screen resizing; and printing support for all printers configured on the Mac, not just PostScript printers.

Microsoft also says that it has enhanced the interface to improve usability and "provide a true Mac experience". In addition new customisation options enable alteration of a number of settings including keyboard shortcuts.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta) is a free download from microsoft.com/mac. The software only supports US English keyboards and expires 31 March 2008.

Remote PCs must be running Windows Vista Business, Enterprise or Ultimate, Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003.
