Corel follows in PC Pro's footsteps

Could one of the world's leading software houses be copying PC Pro?
Our spider senses perked up when we received a press release stating: "Corel is delighted to announce a new Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI 'before and after' competition."
Note the similarity to PC Pro's own digital photography competition. Visit the PC Pro competition landing page and you'll see the words, "We...want to see the best examples of ways in which you've improved a shot in software, to make a poor shot acceptable, a good shot great or a great shot stunning."
Then note the prize. Corel: "Paint Shop Pro Photo users, photography hobbyists and enthusiasts alike are welcome to enter the competition and have the opportunity to win the grand prize - a Canon EOS 400D DSLR Camera."
No awards for guessing our top prize, then: a Canon EOS 400D DSLR camera. Unless you win the competition of course.
Even the deadlines are similar: Corel wants your entries by 17 August, whereas we give you a whole three days longer - we want your entries safely tucked up by 20 August.
When contacted, Corel denied all knowledge. "We've been planning this for some time," said the Corel spokesperson. "In fact, the idea was first discussed earlier this year."
To enter our very own before-and-after competition, head over to
the PC Pro competition page.
Still, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so you may also want to visit Corel's Before and After competition page.
Good luck!
