The PC Pro weekly news round-up
Posted on 13 Jul 2007 at 17:50
There was plenty for IT professionals to draw comfort from this week. Not only are IT skills in demand, with unappreciated pros opting to head for more attractive companies after three years, but web developers can look at their pay packets with growing satisfaction - their salary is, allegedly, rising by 26% each year.
Once you've found a new job, both Google and TomTom are offering intriguing new ways to find your office. Although you may be relying on someone else's advice. Because the Wiki concept has come to maps, with Google providing tools that allow you to "create personalised maps that plot the location of everything from cheap petrol to the latest earthquakes worldwide", while TomTom's Map Share technology means you can add new roads as and when they appear.
And, of course, we saw plenty of news stories about the iPhone. To find out whether PC Pro's Ian Wrigley is still convinced it's the best device since the iPod, read the second part of his hands-on guide here.
