ClimateCounts rates companies on four criteria: whether it measures the impact it has on global warming, the steps it is taking to reduce this impact, its support for public policies to address climate change and the amount of information it provides about all of the above.
Out of a possible 100 points, Apple scored just two, for beginning to review the overall impact its products have on global warming.

ClimateCounts' rating puts Apple a long way adrift of other electronics companies; the next lowest rating was Samsung's 33.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs' recent missive on the company's environmental policies - A Greener Apple makes just the one reference to climate change, noting that Apple is beginning to explore the overall carbon footprint of its products, and "may have some interesting data and issues to share later this year". This appears to be the statement that registered the two points on ClimateCounts' scorecard.
A Greener Apple was in part a response to criticisms of Apple from Greenpeace about its environmental record.
Apple has not responded to the ClimateCounts report.
