Apple tackles Vista issues with iTunes update
Posted on 6 Mar 2007 at 08:25
Apple has released an iTunes update that addresses a number of problems with Vista compatibility.
Although it has not listed what has been addressed, Apple notes that some problems are outstanding and that it is working with Microsoft to fix them.
The issues comprise: ejecting an iPod from Windows Explorer or the Windows notification area (system tray) using the Safely Remove Hardware feature may corrupt your iPod - to safely eject an iPod, choose Eject iPod from the Controls menu within iTunes; iTunes may display text or graphics incorrectly on your screen - resizing the iTunes window should correct this issue; contacts from Windows Address Book may not sync with iPod; and iTunes remains unsupported on 64-bit editions of Windows, including Windows Vista and Windows XP x64.
The absence from the list of previously documented problems with iTunes Store DRM compatibility, calendar syncing and software restore suggests that these have been fixed.
The update also adds support for streaming music, video and photos to a widescreen TV or home theatre system connected to an Apple TV box, plus an option to view Cover Flow full-screen.
iTunes 7.1 is a free download from apple.com/support/downloads. Apple has also released an QuickTime 7.1.5 update that fixes several security vulnerabilities.
