Apple has confirmed that its various Windows software products are not compatible with the new Vista version of Microsoft's PC operating system.

An article in the company's knowledge base details Windows compatibility for software including QuickTime, Bonjour, AirPort, iPod Updater, iPod shuffle Reset Utility, iDisk Utility and AppleWorks. All are compatible with Windows XP and in most cases 2000.

The document will be revised as compatibility information changes.

Apple has previously detailed known issues when attempting to run iTunes in Vista and recommended that PC users delay upgrading until the next release of iTunes which will be available in the next few weeks.

FileMaker, the wholly-owned Apple subsidiary, has also confirmed that there are issues when trying to run its database applications in Vista. It notes on its knowledge base that in preliminary testing it discovered several issues when running FileMaker Pro 8.5 and FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced, while FileMaker Server 8 and FileMaker Server 8 Advanced are not supported and will not install.

Microsoft has stated that it is working with all software developers to expedite Vista compatibility.
