FIFA 07 holds off Need For Speed: Carbon and WWE Smackdown! Vs. RAW 2007 to take the Christmas top slot for games, according to the ELSPA UK games rankings.
EA's Ronaldinho-fronted football game (DS, GBA, GC, Mob, PC, PS2, PSP, Xb, Xb360) stays at number one in its twelth week on the charts.
The biggest challenger was THQ's WWE Smackdown! Vs. RAW 2007 (PS2, PSP, Xbox 360), the wrestling game featuring an updated fight engine. In its sixth week in the charts, it rose from seven to three.
Getting format specific, the Christmas number one for PC games is The Sims 2: Pets,
Need For Speed: Carbon is top of both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox piles, and Gears of War holds the number one slot for the Xbox 360. What of the Wii, and its first Christmas? The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the top selling game for the new console.
Without more ado, here is the last chart of 2006, the all-format Top 10 for full-price games (number of weeks in chart in brackets):
1 FIFA 07 (12)
2 Need For Speed: Carbon (7)
3 WWE Smackdown! Vs. RAW 2007 (6)
4 Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (8)
5 Call of Duty 3 (6)
6 The Sims 2: Pets (9)
7 Gears of War (5)
8 Happy Feet (4)
9 LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (15)
10 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2)
