ScrapIt Pro is a scrapbook application which puts the aged Scrapbook in the Mac OS to shame. As well as providing editable, searchable storage for multimedia content, ScrapIt Pro can create word-processing documents and record sounds. Anything that can be copied onto the Clipboard can be copied to a ScrapIt Pro file. Files with the most common formats, such as JPEG, GIF, text and .mov files, can be dragged from anywhere and dropped onto the ScrapIt Pro application. They can also be dragged and dropped between open ScrapIt Pro windows. Version 5.5 now recognises URL and email address clippings,
Files can be viewed either as a list of file names, in thumbnails or in their entirety. QuickDraw 3D files can be manipulated in 3D and JPEG, GIF and movie files can be viewed at full-size or resized to fit the window in which they're displayed. Comments fields in items allow the contents of ScrapIt Pro files to be searched by comment. There are also standard forms for things like invoices, telephone messages and expenses. Speech Manager support enables ScrapIt Pro to speak any text items and if you have a microphone, ScrapIt Pro can be used to record and store sounds. New features in version 5.5 provide improved support for text editing, including plug-ins for selected text which enable formatting features like character stripping and changing case. There's also a word count within the text-editing features. ScrapIt Pro isn't perfect, but then it's not intended as a fully functional media-management package.
