The devices are split into two groups: the DCP range which provides all-in-one copier, printer and scanner and the MFC range which also includes fax capability. Unlike most MFDs, these include high-quality mono laser rather than inkjet or bubblejet printing.
The inclusion of Rendezvous technology means that these machines can be connected to a network and will be recognised instantly by all the Macs running OS X on that network - without any software configuration. As well as network connectivity via Ethernet all six models have USB 2 and Parallel connections for plugging into individual computers.
Brother has also added PIN-based security to the MFC range, preventing outgoing faxes from being sent and incoming faxes from being printed until the PIN is entered.
Other features include a separate drum and toner, so drums that can last up to 20,000 pages are not thrown out when a 6,500 page toner cartridge is exhausted.
Prices for the devices start at £420; further details from www.brother.co.uk.
