Although nominally a mere chess game, this one has a choice of traditional or a selection of fantasy pieces and is closely integrated into OS X, letting you share games over iChat, control iTunes, play-by-email and set up games across your local network via Rendezvous. The software also claimed the Best Mac OS X Technology Adoption award.
Macromedia's website editing application Contribute was named Best Product New to Mac OS while the iSight-based gaming application, ToySight, picked up the award for Most Innovative Mac OS X Product.
Other gongs went to Panic's Usenet reader Unison and Unreal Tournament 2004
