iPhone heads to Canada
10:13AM, Wednesday 30th April 2008
Canada will be the seventh country to (officially) get its hands on the iPhone, when the Rogers network launches it later this year.
Rogers is the only carrier with a compatible GSM network. Its chief executive, Ted Rogers, announced the deal with Apple in brief statement.
"We're thrilled to announce that we have a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year," Rogers said. "We can't tell you any more about it right now, but stay tuned."
iPhone is currently available in the US, UK, Austria, France, Germany and Ireland, though hacked versions are increasingly common in other European countries and, by all accounts, are all the rage in Russia and China.
