Management scuffle at Apple Japan oust VP

Japan's top business daily has claimed that divisions in the managerial ranks of Apple Japan were behind the departure of vice president of marketing Yoshiaki Sakito.
The AP reports that the Nihon Keizai Shimbun said that Sakito's departure will force Apple to make a 'major change' in its management team amid increased competition from Sony and others in the digital music space.
Sakito gets much of the credit for the success of the iPod in Japan, according to the AP.
Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Philip Schiller, will stand in until a successor is appointed.
Apple said that it had reached an agreement with Sakito, who plans to set up a venture business, but declined to comment further.
