Apple: no new PowerBooks; Amazon goof #2; shares; Tiger for developers... 10:12AM, Wednesday 20th October 2004
Apple will not be upgrading the PowerBook line this year, David Moody, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Mac Product Marketing, said yesterday when discussing the revamped iBooks. The PowerBooks were last overhauled in April.

Amazon has announced a new released date for Mac OS X 10.4. Tiger will ship, the website says, on 30 June 2005. Last Friday it put the date at 31 March. Why do we think someone at Amazon HQ is having a laugh?

Apple shares peaked again yesterday, passing $48 on the back of the accelerated iBooks and low-priced, entry-level Power Mac.

Finally, Mac software developers can now get their hands on the Tiger Early Start Kit so that they can get their applications ready for the release of OS X 10.4, whenever that may be. MacUser magazine readers can 'upgrade' to Tiger early, by following the Run Tiger Now feature in the latest issue.
