Adobe updates RAW plug-in with digital negative format 11:52AM, Monday 27th September 2004
Adobe has updated Photoshop's support for digital cameras' RAW image formats. The new plug-in adds to the number of camera models supported and includes a utility for converting images into the DNG, digital negative format.

DNG was developed to creat an open standard for the proprietary RAW files created by different digital cameras. The format specification is freely available, allowing any any developer to build software that supports and DNG.

As well as the DNG Converter the Camera Raw 2.3 update adds support for the Canon PowerShot S60, the Epson R-D1, the Fujifilm FinePix S20 Pro and the Nikon Coolpix 5400. The update is a free download for Photoshop CS running on OS X 10.2.4 and later from www.adobe.com/support/downloads. A Windows version is also available.

For more information on DNG visit www.adobe.com/products/dng. Cameras supported by Adobe's RAW plug-in are listed at www.adobe.com/photoshop.
