Mozilla Web browser update released
12:53PM, Wednesday 18th June 2003
The Mozilla Organization has released version 1.4 RC2 of its open source, standards based Web browser.
changes from RC1, including: the ability to have two differently named bookmarks pointing at the same location, site icons in the Bookmark Manager and Bookmarks Sidebar; 'streamlined' pop-up blocking to improve usability; the ability to specify Blank page, Home page, or Last page visited for each of first window, new window and new tab; more flexible image blocking and disabling with the ability to 'view image' to see blocked or not loaded images; and 'thousands' of additional bug fixes, including changes to improve performance, stability, Web site compatibility, standards support, and usability.
Although somewhat on the hefty side, largely due to the combination of browser, email software and chat client, Mozilla is serious alternative to better known Web browsers. As well as strong support for most Web standards - in many cases its better than its rivals - Mozilla is also one the fastest browsers around.
