Both applications are derived from the original Freeway application, awarded the maximum five mice in our most recent review. MacUser technical editor Keith Martin wrote, 'Designing Web sites needn't mean swallowing a code dictionary and learning to speak geek. Freeway 3.5 does something no other Web package has managed: it makes Web site design as accessible and as flexible as regular DTP, but without making life difficult for serious code users.'

Unlike other leading Web authoring applications, such as Adobe GoLive and Macromedia Dreamweaver, the various Freeway packages are only available for the Mac. Softpress' managing director Richard Logan reiterates the company's commitment to the platform: 'We at Softpress are dedicated to the Macintosh platform and to its ethos - taking care of the underlying complexity of tasks to set the user free and remove the barriers between inspiration and results.

Freeway Pro 3.5 costs £150, including either the Navigation or Graphics FAST pack, and £179 with both packs. Registered users of Freeway 3.x can upgrade for £39 with one FAST pack and £59 with two. Educatioal discounts are available.
Freeway Express costs just £49 and includes 29 templates to get you started.
