Rewind recovery upgrade 11:38AM, Tuesday 2nd January 2001
Rewind, the disk and file rescue software, has been upgraded. Rewind 1.0.3 is now compatible with Mac OS 8.1 through to 9.04, with an OS X version in the pipeline, and supports disk partitions as small as 200MB.

The upgrade addresses compatibility problems with Photoshop, Graphic Converter, Netscape and Internet Explorer; an updated installer allows both network and standalone installation.

Rewind comprises four main elements: rewind disks, which allows users to restore the contents of a disk to a specific point in time; rewind files, which tracks files as they are updated, allowing users to go back to a previous version, and allows trashed files to be recovered; an uninstall feature; and an emergency mode which will startup the Mac in the event of the system becoming damaged or lost.

Rewind 1.0.3 requires a Power PC Mac running, MacOS 8.1 to 9.0.4, an HFS+ formatted disk of at least 200MB and a minimum 5 per cent of the hard disk as free space.
