Apple warns of pending "product transition" 9:34AM, Tuesday 22nd July 2008
Apple has warned investors that a "product transition" that will take place in the current quarter will impact the company's profit margins.

True to form, chief financial officer Peter Oppeheimer would not tell analysts listening to the company's financial results conference call what the transition would comprise.

All he would say was that it would involve "technologies and features that others can't match" and that the costs incurred would lower gross margins from the 34.8% of the last quarter to around 31.5%.

Apple chief executive said earlier in the company's results press release that the company is "busy finishing several more wonderful new products".
