Apple sells one million 3G iPhones
1:41PM, Monday 14th July 2008
Apple has sold more than one million iPhones since the new 3G handset went on sale in 21 countries on Friday.
At the same time, iPhone and iPod touch users were downloading more than 10 million applications from the new App Store.
More than 800 native applications are now available, with more than 200 available for free. Apps can be download direct to the device, or through iTunes and then synced.
Apple chief executive Steve Jobs expressed his delight at the "stunning" weekend.
"It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world," he said, adding that the App Store is a "grand slam".
