A successful iPhone launch aside, Friday will be a day Apple wants to forget, as it failed to deliver MobileMe as promised and struggled to cope with the demand for iPhone 2.0.
But as the dust has settled over the weekend, those look more like teething problems. MobileMe is fully functioning, with only a couple of minor tasks to be completed relating to deceased .Mac features Groups and HomePage.
Apple has subsequently modified and re-released the Mac OS X Update for MobileMe, which Leopard provides general system fixes for MobileMe subscribers running Leopard. The v1.1 software is available via Software Update and replaces the first version released and quickly withdrawn on Friday.
The new iPhone and iPod touch software is available through iTunes, free to iPhone users and £5.99 for the iPod. The software provides support for third-party applications from the new App Store, push email and support for Microsoft Exchange amongst its new features.
