Drobo puts 16TB on FireWire 9:55AM, Wednesday 9th July 2008
Data Robotics has added FireWire to its high-capacity, secure storage system, Drobo.

The second generation model adds two FireWire 800 ports, compatible with FW400, to the single USB 2.0 port. It also has an upgraded core processor and the developer has also made further tweaks to improve USB performance. Drobo also runs quieter and cooler than before.

"Our ability to deliver FireWire 800 in the newest version of Drobo gives us even more of an edge with two particular groups: creative professionals who rely on the speed and performance of their equipment in their day to day work, and the Apple community which has a strong affinity for FireWire products," said Geoff Barrall, founder and chief executive of Data Robotics.

These new features supplement the existing capabilities, chief of which is redundant protection of data and the ability to add and configure storage as required up to 16TB.
