The UK carrier first had to take down its web page for existing iPhone users who want to upgrade, and not long afterwards removed the page for new iPhone orders.
"Due to huge demand for iPhone 3G, we're currently out of stock online," the company explained, instructing potential customers to return to its website

According to one unconfirmed report, Apple is restricting supplies to the UK because it is annoyed at the degree of iPhone unlocking that has taken place.
Electricpig claims that less than 15% of iPhones sold after the April price reduction appeared on O2's network.
"According to our source, the UK will receive a very limited stock of the iPhone 3G as a result," the website says, adding that this explains why O2 is selling the on a one-per-customer, first-come-first-served basis.
The white version of the 16GB iPhone may not be available at all. Both O2 and Carphone Warehouse have said that they will only have black models available at launch on Friday.
