iPhone to see JavaScript speed boost

The latest benchmarks for Safari running on the iPhone 2.0 software indicate that Apple has responded to one of the major criticisms of browsing on its mobile devices - JavaScript performance.
The latest developers' release of iPhone 2.0 provide JavaScript performance that is twice as quick as current iPhone software, according to iPhone Atlas.
That suggests that the new SquirrelFish JavaScript engine that is deployed in the proto-Safari WebKit browser has found its way into iPhone 2.0. SquirrelFish is also deployed in Safari 4 for the desktop, early builds of which have been released to developers.
Green packaging
Apple has contracted a Dutch company to provide potato starch trays for the iPhone packaging. PaperFoam claims its trays have a 90% smaller carbon footprint than plastic and are made entirely from renewable, natural resources.
