Apple set to hit 10 million iPhone target 11:22AM, Friday 20th June 2008
Apple looks to be on course to meet its objective of 10 million iPhone sales by the end of this year, shipping as many as that the third quarter alone.

Taiwan's Commercial Times reports that its survey of component suppliers indicates that Apple will ship 10 million units of the new 3G iPhone during the quarter.

"Initial volume is not large, about two to three million, but starting in mid-July sales volume will increase, estimated third quarter shipment will rush to 10 million units," the paper wrote.

Chief executive Steve Jobs said this month that Apple had sold six million units of the original iPhone as he introduced the new 3G model.
