No PowerPC support in Snow Leopard preview 9:06AM, Thursday 12th June 2008
Snow Leopard will not run on Power PC Macs, unless Apple has a change of heart in the 12 months to its release.

The system requirements for the developer preview specifically state that an Intel processor is required, ruling out Power Macs that will be less than three years old when the successor to OS X Leopard is released.

Apple's synopsis of Snow Leopard's features does not give much away, but it does note that one of its objective is to streamline the operating system.

"Snow Leopard dramatically reduces the footprint of Mac OS X, making it even more efficient for users, and giving them back valuable hard drive space for their music and photos," the page says.

Throwing out all the PowerPC code would be one easy way to do that.
