Parallels updates for Windows service packs 11:02AM, Monday 12th May 2008
Parallels has update its desktop virtualisation application to support the recent Windows service pack releases.

Parallels Desktop 3.0.5600 provides support for Windows XP SP3 and Vista SP 1. It also has fixes for kernel panic issues and instances of high processor usage, plus improvements to Shared Folders.

Windows alongside OS X. Microsoft recently adopted it as a replacement for the Virtual PC software it abandoned with the release of Office 2008.

The software will be included in Microsoft's Windows-only Expression Professional Subscription, to give Mac users access to the suite's half dozen applications.

"This combination opens up Microsoft software products to Mac-based designers, which will widen the options for those wanting to design for the Microsoft platform including Silverlight," said Wayne Smith, group product manager of Expression Studio at Microsoft.

Microsoft has also released Expression Media 2, a Mac native image management app with a subset of the suite's features.
