Apple bins Xserve RAID

Apple has dropped the Xserve RAID from its range of server products.
As indicated with the release of Xsan 2, Apple is now endorsing RAID storage systems by Promise Technology, whose VTrak E-Class RAID Subsystem occupies the space on Apple's website where the Xserve product used to be.
The Mac maker has also rejigged its Server pages.
The company gave no explanation for the decision to drop its RAID products which it introduced in 2003. At one stage Apple hoped the system might prove to be an "iPod for the enterprise", its low price and platform agnosticism attracting businesses that might not otherwise have been interested in Apple products.
