The administration tools have been completely redesigned and as the software intelligently handles different data types, file sizes and usage scenarios for ideal performance, administrators have the option to pre-set volume workload settings for optimal streaming of all file types and sizes.
Unlike the original release, Xsan 2 has been qualified with third-party RAID storage hardware from Promise Technology in configurations optimised for Xsan, Mac OS X Server and Apple's professional applications.
Xsan 2 costs £699 (inc. VAT; 594.89 exc. VAT) per node and is qualified to work with Apple's Xserve server and Mac Pro desktop, and with Apple Fibre Channel PCI-X cards.
