UPDATED: Apple cuts iPod shuffle price and intros 2GB model 1:36PM, Tuesday 19th February 2008
Apple has announced that it is cutting the US price of the iPod shuffle from £49 to £32.

It is also introducing a 2GB version, double the existing capacity but for the same price as before, £49. It will ship later this month.

Both models are available in the same five colours: silver, blue, green, purple and red.

The price cuts brings the shuffle in line with competing products, such as the £28 Zen Stone. And the £32 price tag compares favourably with the $49 tax-free price that Apple is charging in the US. The company is often criticised for the lack of price parity between Europe and its home country.
