Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac unveiled 8:54AM, Thursday 10th January 2008
Adobe has announced the release of Photoshop Elements 6 for OS X. The Mac version of the image editing software will be introduced at next week's San Francisco expo.

From its beginnings as a slimmed down version of Photoshop, Elements has developed into a one-stop shop for image organisation and management, editing and output - and kind of Adobe-enhanced iPhoto. That includes the full suite of print options, from CD and DVD labels to bound books, animated web galleries and greetings cards.

Among the new features is Adobe's Photomerge

technology let users easily combine the best facial expressions and body language from a series of shots to create a single group shot. The new Quick Selection Tool reduces select-and-adjust editing and retouching tasks to a single click. while new Guided Edit mode provides step-by-step directions for improving photos.

"In this release, we've focused on going beyond the basics to make everyday and advanced tasks even easier to achieve," said John Loiacono, senior vice president of Creative Solutions at Adobe. "Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh allows people to organize and find photos quickly, unleash powerful editing tricks without any heavy lifting, and creatively share photos that give them all the bragging rights."

UK pricing for Photoshop Elements 6 Elements is expected to be around £55 including VAT.
