Apple patches iMacs, MacBook Pros and Leopard; no news on .Mac syncing 8:42AM, Monday 5th November 2007
Apple has released an iMac firmware update to improve Leopard compatibility. It has also updated the graphics software on MacBook Pro laptops running Tiger.

iMac Software Update 1.3 (Leopard) provides important bug fixes and is recommended for 20in and 24in iMacs with 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8GHz processors.

MacBook Pro Software Update 1.2 improves graphics stability and is recommended for all 2.2 and 2.4GHz MacBook Pros.

Apple has also released a Login & Keychain Update 1.0 for Leopard. The update addresses It addresses issues that may occur when: logging in with an

account originally created in Mac OS X 10.1 or earlier that has a password of 8 or more characters; connecting to some 802.11b/g wireless networks; and changing the password of a FileVault-protected account.

Apple has also updated the .Mac Backup application and Aperture for iWork and Leopard compatibility.

All updates are also available via Software Update.

Leopard users should note that the new OS changes the way that some, if not all, updates are handled by Software Update. Previous versions of the Mac OS installed the update then prompted a restart where necessary. Leopard first prompts the restart, then installs the updates once user accounts have been closed.

Meanwhile there is still no news regarding the completion of .Mac maintenance that has left some subscribers unable to sync for more than than two weeks. No explanation has been forthcoming since 29 October, when Apple explained that due to scheduled maintenance of the .Mac Sync service members are unable to sync Safari Bookmarks or Mac OS X Address Book contacts.
