Panic not panicking over Leopard compatibility 1:53PM, Wednesday 24th October 2007
Panic has announced the imminent release of CandyBar 3 - and a simple way to make a system-wide replacement of Leopard's icons.

CandyBar 2 will not work in Leopard - it won't even launch because of "a (well planned) built-in safety system". But the new, Leopard-only version, scheduled for release before the end of November, will include support for the new 512x512 pixel icons as well as a number of new icon types. It will also provide "more robust" restoration

of default icons.

The developers also plan to include the ability to customise some of the look of Leopard's new Dock, though Apple does appear to have addressed some of the complaints. CandyBar's other new features remain under wraps.

Panic has also warned that its FTP client, Transmit, has some problems with Leopard and an update will be available soon.

Coda and Unison are both happy with the new version of OS X, as is Pixadex 2. Version 3 of the icon management application will be Leopard only to integrate with the new version of CandyBar.

More information can be gleaned from Panic co-founder Cabel Sasser's blog.
