The new 3D Dock, where icons sit on a transparent "shelf" always seemed likely to divide opinion, so much so that according to Mac Rumors Apple has provided an option to switch to an updated version of the current 2D Dock. Whether that option will be available via the System Preferences or remain a hidden feature that can only be enabled through the Terminal -

Where the 3D Dock definitely does not work is when the user opts to display it vertically on the right- or left-hand side of the screen - whoever heard of a vertical shelf? In this case, it seems that the Dock automatically defaults to a 2D display.
Leopard is available from 6pm on Friday, 26 October. The organisers of this weekend's MacLive Expo at London's Olympia have confirmed that they will extend their opening hours at the show on Friday to 6.30pm to enable the two resellers present - Rapid and Computer Warehouse - to sell the new version of OS X to attendees.
