Apple opens late for iPhone launch
3:20PM, Thursday 28th June 2007
Apple will open its retail stores until midnight on Friday to meet anticipated first-day demand for the iPhone.
All 164 US stores will close at 2pm before re-opening at 6pm. Customers will be allowed to purchase up to two iPhones on a first-come, first-served basis, which suggests that Apple is expecting stocks to run out in some locations.
"Apple retail stores were created for this moment - to let customers touch and experience a revolutionary new product," said Ron Johnson, Apple's senior vice president of Retail. "With our legendary Genius Bar support, free workshops and our One to One personal training, we're here to help customers get the most from their new iPhone."
From Saturday morning, stores will be presenting in-depth iPhone workshops throughout the day.
