Brief: Apple at broadcast conference plus talk of new iMacs 3:55PM, Tuesday 20th March 2007
Apple has confirmed its attendance at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference in Las Vegas. The event, which takes place next month, has previously been the venue for key product announcements.

In recent weeks, there has been speculation of an update to Final Cut Pro which, if it proved to be accurate, would be a sensible fit for any NAB announcements.

Further speculation has recently centred on talk of a slimmer, revamped iMac that could double up as a high definition television device, and termination of the 17in iMac model. This would ideally be suited to video editing, although the 8-core Mac Pro that received a brief mention on Apple's UK online store would be another possibility.

AppleInsider claims that sources have told it Apple is looking to 'cut the fat' from the iMac's current chassis design. If true, this would be part of a continuing trend, which saw the second generation G5 and Intel-based iMacs adopt a significantly slimmer, more chiselled body than the original incarnation.

Invitations for the NAB event say that it will take place on Sunday 15 April at 11am at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
